Science and Public Affairs Forums
The BA’s Science & Public Affairs Forums are an established initiative at which the audience has an opportunity to discuss important science and society issues with leading scientists and policy makers. The emphasis is on topics that have a genuine public resonance and embrace issues that effect the way we live now and in the future.  The forums therefore focus on topical issues and generally comprise a panel of three or four people who represent different perspectives of an issue.

Recent forums have covered a range of topics including the future of Pharmacogenetics, Ethics and the Developing World and Climate Change.

The aim of the forums is to generate dialogue on a science topic of specific relevance to a public audience.  Forums are generally attended by the interested lay public, policy makers (not necessarily science policy) and members of the science communication community.

There is a synergy between the forums and the bi-monthly magazine ‘Science and Public Affairs’.  Speakers at the forum may contribute an article focusing on the topic of the forum for inclusion in the forthcoming edition of the magazine.
