Steve Miller - Biography

Professor Steve Miller is the Head of the Department of Science and Technology Studies (STS) at University College London, and also member of UCL's Atmospheric Physics Laboratory. In STS his main interests are in the public understanding of science, and science and society relations, particularly at a European level. In Atmospheric Physics, he carries out research on the atmospheres of giant planets, such as Jupiter and Saturn.



 



Prof. Miller trained as a physical chemist at the University of Southampton, and went on to do research at UMIST (Manchester) and Sheffield University. For six years in the , he worked as a political journalist for the Labour Party in London. When Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher abolished the Greater London Council, Prof. Miller went back into science at UCL.
