Young Scots Celebrate Science at Regional CREST Final
On Friday 21st April 2006 the Scottish CREST Award Final took place at the University of Abertay, Dundee.
This event saw schools from accross Scotland competing for cash prizes and the opportunity to attend the
BA CREST Science Fair
2007.
30 science and technology projects were on display, carried out by students aged 11-19. The young people had all received a BA CREST Award for project work in science and technology and were awarded with a certificate on the day.
The prize for the best Bronze CREST Award was given to Ruari Jardine from Dollar Academy for his project 'Does Shape Affect Speed?'.
Nadia Hyder, Angel Lin, Zenub Qulsoom and Bhanjeek Kaur Grewal from Hutcheson's Grammar School in Glasgow scooped the best Silver project award for their work called 'Toilet Troubles' about the spread of germs.
The winners of the prize for the best Gold CREST project were Kirsteen Tullett and Ying Qin (pictured above) from The High School of Glasgow and The Glasgow Academy. Kirsteen and Ying studied proteins in plants and their project was carried out under the Nuffield Bursary Scheme.
