the-BA : BAckchat

BAckchat is the key event for 14-19 year olds at the BA Festival of Science. These sessions bring together the main Festival events, the special 14-19 programme and the participants. Students meet top scientists at the Festival in an informal setting, find out a bit more about them and their work and discuss the issues of the day.

Every day there is a different theme to be debated but whatever the subject, these sessions give students the chance to ask the experts all about their research, their careers, the best or worst part of being a scientist, or anything else they’d like to know more about!

In 2006 three BAckchats took place: one on climate change, one on engineering and one on biomedical science. Students from Litcham High School are pictured above desiging a 'house of the future' as part of the event on climate change.
