Competitors' Information

The following information will help you to prepare for any CREST fair.

Important: Students attending The Big Bang: UK Young Scientists and Engineers Fair must provide a 4 sided (2 page) project summary report for the judges to read prior to the event. If you have won at a regional event this must be sent to the BA via e-mail (sciencefair@the-ba.net with your name, school and CREST level clearly stated.) and be no more than 2MB in size. Deadline: November 28th 2008 If you are self-nomination this summary should be uploaded at the end of the online form.

The project summary can be the original report for the project if it is 4 sides or less in length, or a summarised version of a larger report (especially if you have completed a gold award). See the Project Summary Guidelines (124KB) for assistance.

Having an attractive project display helps to get your project noticed, it also shows your knowledge of the work and how to communicate it to others. See the 2009 Display Guide (679KB) for assistance in designing your display and how to practice speaking to the judges.

Not sure what the judges are looking for? have a look at the CREST Judging Criteria (34KB).

Remember that the judges will be interested in talking to you, and that they are not there to test you and find fault with your work. They only want to find out about your project and what you learned from the process. If you are confident and interested in the project it will come across to the judges and give a good impression.

Last of all . . . . .  have fun!
