Linking up
Your local authority or SETPOINT may have a list of Science and Engineering clubs running in your area or you could ask around during local authority heads of science meetings or regional training events. You could even ask your regional Science Learning Centre to see if they can help.

There are many ways you could collaborate with other schools. For example:

  • joining together to host a special speaker.
  • running a joint science fair.
  • having a competition for small groups within your clubs.
  • organising a trip together.
  • organising a joint end of year celebration event.
Keep linked meetings simple with one club taking charge of the event and try to hold them at all the schools taking part over the course of a year. This way, the responsibility is shared. Start with a simple idea and then expand depending on the success of the event. You could even try running your own mini-science fair competition with invited judges.
