Schools in Wales recently celebrated their pupils' scientific success when children were presented with CREST Star Investigators Star Award at special award ceremonies. Presentations took place during National Science and Engineering Week 2008 in Boroughs of Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Caerphilly, with 810 children in total receiving CREST Star Investigators certificates and badges.
Michelle Common, Primary Schools Officer, for Mid Glamorgan Education Business Partnership, said, ‘We encourage schools to run CREST Star Investigators science clubs and it is through these that the children carry out a range of investigations to qualify for their Star Awards. To give recognition to the efforts of the children, we organise prestigious Award Ceremonies and the latest were held during National Science and Engineering Week 2008. Many hundreds of children, teachers and parents joined specially invited guests at the events and a highly enjoyable science show called ‘Forest Friends’ was given by TPP Theatrical Productions.’
