How about helping out with a science radio programme or broadcast?

Podcasting tips
  • Keep the podcast short (15 minutes or less).
  • Think of innovative ways of working other sounds into your podcast. For example, don't present it in a quiet room but go out in to the playground and maybe interact with other people out there, describing what you can see.
  • Paint radio pictures by describing what's going on, what things or people look like and even mention smells, touch etc.
  • Give your audience a voice (e.g. interview your friends).
  • Keep it focused, every word, every interview has to have a reason to be there.
  • Consider your audience. You're having great fun doing the podcast but be honest, are the listeners going to enjoy it as much as you?
  • Try it out on brothers, sisters, friends etc before you finally publish it. Get truthful feedback from them before you go for it.
  • Listen to loads of other podcasts (go to iTunes and look under 'podcasts') and work out which ones you like, which ones you don't and ask yourself why they went well or went wrong. Put the good ideas into yours and get rid of the bad bits!
