Applying lipstick
A few years back a group of Shanghai nurses protested because they were told they had to wear lipstick to work. The hospital said people had complained – saying the nurses looked worse than the patients! One nurse was actually fined when she turned up to work lipstick-less. As she rightfully pointed out: “surely wearing lipstick is a matter of personal choice”.
