Waterproofs
Waterproofs
Earlier this year a Tokyo department store put on a fashion show exclusively for dogs. Eight canines modelled the clothes, which included a particularly fetching yellow raincoat. The coat – modelled by a Miniature Schnauzer – was on sale for a mere £50. Would you be at all interested in keeping your dog dry? Or are you more concerned with your own dampness?

Have you ever wondered what makes a coat waterproof?

You might like to …

  • Develop a procedure for testing how waterproof different materials are. Work out if the water resistance decreases with time and/or wear and tear
  • Try to make non-waterproof materials waterproof
  • Test and compare different ways of mending a torn waterproof jacket (or other item) so it remains waterproof.
