CREST is a flexible scheme. Students can also earn Bronze, Silver or Gold awards through partnership schemes:
Bronze level
Silver level
- Work completed for the schemes listed for Bronze can be accredited with Silver if extra work is completed
Gold level
Local coordinators will administer and assess the CREST awards for the schemes listed above.
Following a successful Evaluation (PDF 311KB) in 2006, the BA wishes to expand the CREST scheme significantly whilst maintaining the high quality of CREST at the different award levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold).
The BA wishes to increase the number of partners that it works with, supporting the STEM national report that highlights collaboration and cooperation is the key to successful future development of national STEM activities.
In addition to the award scheme, students have the opportunity to present their work at Regional and National CREST Events. The BA, Young Engineers and a number of other providers of STEM enrichment activities are currently working together to create one major UK event, offering a showcase for students by whatever route they have demonstrated outstanding creativity and innovation in science and engineering. Such an initiative also works with the Government’s agenda of seeking to bring coherence to enrichment activities in science and technology education. The BA anticipates that over time all providers of CREST accredited activities will be involved in the national event.
