Professor Kathy Sykes has been Professor of Public Engagement of Science and Engineering at Bristol University since November 2002. She is also a trainer in communication and media skills to scientists; a mentor for scientists communicating their work; and co-Director of the Cheltenham Festival of Science.
Professor Sykes has presented science programmes for the BBC and has undertaken other television and radio work. Her earlier career includes serving as Head of Science for 'Explore @ Bristol' and acting as a researcher on 'Tomorrow's World'. She has been a member of Wellcome Trust's Public Engagement Strategic Advisory Group since 2002 and is a Trustee of the NMSI.
