Bursary Eligibility
Bursary applications for the Science Communication Conference are now closed.

Details of eligibility for the bursary scheme in 2008 can be found below.

Those awarded bursaries to attend the conference in 2007 are eligible to apply this year; however priority will be given to those who have not previously received a bursary. Due to the nature of the funding, applications for bursaries can only accepted from those based in the UK.

Eligibility for individual categories is as follows:

UK science communication students
Applicants must be registered on a full or part time science communication course for the academic year 2007/2008. Only one student per course will be awarded a bursary. Applicants will be asked to provide information on how they will disseminate information to other students at their university or college. This information will be used to determine who will be awarded a bursary.

Freelancers/microbusiness (less than 10 employees)
Only one application will be accepted per organisation. Applicants will be asked to provide information on how they will disseminate information to other freelancers not attending the conference. This information will be used to determine who will be awarded a bursary.

Campaigning groups
Only one application will be accepted per organisation. Applicants will be asked to provide information on how they will disseminate information to contacts at other campaign groups not attending the conference. This information will be used to determine who will be awarded a bursary.

Scientists/engineers involved in public engagement
Applications in this category will be considered from any scientists or engineers already involved in public engagement. This is a professional conference and is not intended to provide an introduction to science communication. Applicants will be asked to provide information on how they will disseminate information to other scientists or engineers working at their organisation. This information will be used to determine who will be awarded a bursary.

Wellcome Trust-funded bursaries
To be eligible for a Wellcome Trust-funded bursary, applicants must be able to show a substantial element of public engagement work in the biosciences or medical sciences.

For those not based in the UK, the British Council is a possible source of funding to attend the conference.
