The Leicester and Leicestershire Branch was formed in 1997 and has since developed a regular winter and spring programme comprising on average seven talks or events on each programme. Links have been formed with outside organisations such as the Literary and Philosophical Society, the University of Leicester Lifelong Learning College, the WI and the local Conservation Society and joint events are organised with each of these. Outside visits are also organised. Strong support from the University of Leicester, de Montfort University, Loughborough University and local Industry ensures a supply of interesting speakers who enjoy a good discussion.
