Sophie Nicholson-Cole biography
Sophie Nicholson-Cole
Dr Sophie Nicholson-Cole has a background in environmental sciences. In 2004, she completed a PhD which explored people’s perceptions of climate change. This concentrated on investigating the extent to which climate change is thought to be personally relevant and how able people feel to do something about it. The PhD research also looked at how visual representations of climate change interact with people’s senses of engagement with the issue.

She has since worked for the Tyndall Centre for climate change research, looking at issues of adaptation to climate change around the world. This has involved co-writing a guidebook for small islands on ‘surviving’ climate change and doing research into how the UK is beginning to adapt to the changes in climate that we are starting to see. Sophie currently holds an environmental politics teaching post at the University of East Anglia.

In March 2006, Sophie was a panellist at My Climate Is Changing at the Dana Centre.
