Dust traps
One in twenty of us are affected by asthma. It’s often linked to the quality of the air we breathe. The same goes for hay fever. But it’s still being debated how much of a part air pollution plays. Some scientists think allergies are more to do with children not getting as dirty as they used to. They don’t pick up as many germs and so don’t become resistant to them.

Have you ever wondered if you can tell if the air around you is polluted?

You might like to …

  • study the growth of lichens on stones and trees in different locations and show how their growth is linked to pollution
  • make and set up a pollen trap so you can count and identify pollen in the air.
