Science Communication Conference
Dimitri Zenghelis at the Science Communication Conference

The Science Communication Conference addresses the key issues facing science communicators in the UK.

The report and presentations from the 2008 conference are now available.

The 2008 conference took place on 19 and 20 May at the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Savoy Place, London.

Each day the conference ran sessions in three strands - engaging to inspire and educate, engaging to involve and engaging through the media and PR.

Each year, the conference aims to:

  • demonstrate and discuss the contribution science communication activities are making to the various broadly-shared strategic aims for public engagement
  • raise awareness of new developments
  • promote greater understanding and cohesion amongst those working in science, technology and engineering communications
  • provide opportunities to network, share ideas and good practice

The Science Communication Conference is aimed at key people who are engaged in science communication, a diverse group of people from a broad range of backgrounds.

We run a conference bursary scheme, which was supported in 2008 by the Wellcome Trust and the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills.
