Coming in Spring 2009 to the South-East, an opportunity to network with those working or interested in the field of science communication and public engagement with the sciences.
Based on the successful models of Science Alliance Cymru, North East Science Alliance and Yorkshire and Humber Science Alliance, SASE hopes to bring together all those in the following regions with the aim to discuss and exchange ideas:
- Kent
- Surrey
- Sussex
- Hampshire and Isle of Wight
The main purpose of a Science Alliance is to enable the sharing of good practice across the region by bringing together practioners who:
- Work in all fields of science, including technology, maths and social sciences
- Work to engage groups of all people
- Come from diverse backgrounds including science communication, academia, education, museums, public sector, freelance, industry, business, professional/learned societies etc.
- To add value to existing networks in the region by providing a space for them to come together with one another and for collaborations to be formed
SESA meetings take place every 2–3 months at a key location in the region, and all members are invited. The meetings typically take-place in the evening from 7pm onwards, and follow an informal format of short presentations, buffet and drinks with plenty of time for networking.
