Scientific Edge winners recieve prizes from RSS Members
The Branch was formed through a partnership agreed in 2002 with the independent Richmond Scientific Society, founded in 1948.  Our talks are aimed at non-specialist audiences.

RSS arrange monthly illustrated talks from September to May, Wednesdays 8pm in Vestry House, 21 Paradise Road, Richmond TW9 1SA. Non-members welcome, £2 per lecture.

The Society and Branch are always keen to hear from people with ideas and a willingness to offer help!

Branch Update, September 2008:
Scientific Edge started up about two years ago and is a cooperation between Richmond Borough and this year the National Physical Laboratory at Teddington. The aim is to build links with local industry and colleges and to improve the quality of science teaching in local schools.
In March, Scientific Edge held a science quiz at NPL, attended by four pupils from each of eight Richmond secondary schools. There was also a competition for the best banner on a scientific theme.

Members of Richmond Scientific Society were asked to mark the quiz papers and judge the banners. RSS also donated vouchers as prizes for the banner competition. Seen here is Marion Martyn of RSS presenting the prizes to pupils of Hampton Community School.
