The Tayside & Fife Branch is the oldest BA local branch in Scotland, and was formed in 1968 (when the Annual Festival of Science was last held in Dundee). The Branch Committee organises an annual programme of talks and other local activities, most of which are free and open to the public.
The Branch's most successful events for young people are Theme Days, where groups of senior secondary school students visit local laboratories or research facilities. The strength of the Theme Days is that they give school students a flavour of scientific research, the opportunity to see facilities that otherwise would not be available to them and to meet young researchers starting a career in science.
