Tadcaster Grammar School was the host for the Yorkshire and The Humber launch. Approximately 30 guests including the Lord Mayor, school governors, parents and three Science and Engineering Ambassadors (two from businesses that plan to support the clubs in their area), attended the Yorkshire and The Humber regional launch. Bill Rammell, Minister of State for Life Long Learning also attended to officially announce the launch of the clubs.
The day’s activities started with a demonstration of 'robot wars' arranged by SETPOINT North Yorkshire and the schools Design and Technology department. This activity involved 15 pupils from Years 7 and 8 and guests seized the opportunity to take control of the machines whenever possible!
Guests then moved to the science block where three members of staff from Huddersfield University were instructing 12 pupils on how to make soap and shampoo. Many guests commented on how surprised they were by the level of engagement and fascination pupils showed during this activity.
