Professor William Gosling

Professor William Gosling was educated in physics at Imperial College London but subsequently became a communications engineer. He is a past President of the Institution of Electrical Engineers and was a founder member and first UK President of the European society for Electrical Engineering.  He has held chairs in the University of Swansea and in the University of Bath.  Subsequently, for 10 years he was Technical Director of Plessey.

His first connection to the BA was giving the Brunel Lecture at the Bath meeting in 1978.  He became a member of the History of Science section committee in the mid nineties, and was President of the Section at the 1999 Festival in Sheffield.  He has been a BA Council member since 2000 and became Treasurer in 2002.  His term of office ends this year.
