The BA's supporter network
Currently we have a supporter network of over 6000 individuals, including branch members; these can be divided into the following categories:

Branch Members - individuals who receive regular communications from the BA and who volunteer or work with one of the BA Branches.

Donors – individuals who support the BA by making a regular financial contribution. People donate in a variety of ways including: Direct Debit, Standing Order, CAF (Charity Aid Foundation), cheque and cash.

Registrations – individuals who receive a range of free communications from the BA but do not currently make a donation.

Information about the current range of communications can be found on the Supporter Communication page

Corporate & Institutional Nominees – Organisations pay for membership and nominate a number of individuals to receive regular communications and some benefits e.g. discounted entry to the Festival of Science.

The remainder of the supporter network is made up of:

Life Members – Paid a one off fee some time ago and receive free entry to the Festival of Science.

Honorary Fellows – Have been awarded a Fellowship in recognition of their contribution to the Science Communication field and the BA.

Libraries - pay a multi-reader rate to receive Science & Public Affairs.

Of the total supporter network, 2000 individuals are members.

Membership is free and open to all supporters, it provides an opportunity to vote in local AGM’s, nominate Honorary Fellows and nominate/elect members of the BA’s General Committee (the BA’s principle strategic advisory body).

Branch members, especially those with a key position on the committee, should become a BA member to enable them to vote at their AGM and nominate members of the General Committee.
