The BA Festival of Science 2005
Pterosaur from Rewriting the History of Life (Copyright: Luis Rey)

The 2005 BA Festival of Science saw coverage everywhere from the Sun to New Scientist and from the Today Programme to GMTV. In particular, there was unprecedented coverage in the Irish media, including our media partner the Irish Times. Topics covered included the ethics of genetics, recent discoveries in palaeontology, environmental damage to cold water corals and how Sudoku can keep you young.

The top ten most-covered stories from the 2005 Festival were:

  1. A Window into the Brain
  2. The BA Presidential Address
  3. The problem of prejudice
  4. Rewriting the history of life
  5. The BA Charles Lyell Award Lecture: Ireland's hidden depths
  6. The genetics of brain wiring
  7. The highs and lows of brain research
  8. 21st century transplantation
  9. A carnival of the senses
  10. The allergy epidemic: Will a worm a day keep asthma at bay?
