the-BA : About the BA Press Office

Each year, the BA is behind a number of projects with a large impact on the media. These include National Science and Engineering Week in March and the BA Festival of Science in September.

National Science and Engineering Week features widely in the media, particularly in regional and local press, but also on programmes such as Blue Peter and Material World. Many media outlets use the week as a hook for science-related articles and features, for example on careers in science.

The BA Festival of Science generates hundreds of national stories each year. In 2007 there were nearly 150 stories from the Festival in national newspapers alone (a media evaluation is currently being conducted to determine coverage for 2008). To facilitate journalists at the Festival, the BA operates a fully-equipped Press Centre.
