Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid
Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid
Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf – or spiders or heights?  Why?  Do your fears and anxieties hold you back?  Are they even rational? Does fear serve any useful purpose?  In November 2007, an anxious audience tuned in to terror at the Dana Centre

Musician and acoustic engineer Sarah Angliss explored Uncanny Valley, where innocent imitation confronts the frontiers of fear.  She introduced Clara 2.0, a dolly with a difference, and explained why realistic robots can become uncomfortably strange.

The Science Museum's resident entomologist Tim Maynard introduced his beautiful brood of spiders.

Psychologist Peter Naish discussed how hypnotherapy can help people overcome deep-rooted fear and anxiety, while biochemist David Perry and psychologist Andjelka Stones explored the science of panic attacks.
